The Rutland Hotel in Sheffield changes hands

The Rutland Hotel in Sheffield has been sold to international hotel operator Ellerslie for an undisclosed sum.

The four-star hotel is located off Broomfield Road in the university area of Sheffield and has 63 ensuite bedrooms.

The hotel was marketed openly at an asking price of £2.65m.

Ellerslie has acquired the hotel from Claypenny Hotels Limited in a sale secured by Colliers International. Ellerslie is an established hotel operator and currently owns and operates the Discovery Inn in Leeds city centre.

Tasneem Watson, director of Ellerslie, said: “The potential to increase sales revenue at the Rutland is exciting and we look forward to taking on this challenge. We plan to work closely with the established team in Sheffield over the coming months to identify any necessary improvements needed and will likely refurbish the property over time in order to ensure we are in the best possible position to attract and welcome existing and new customers to the Rutland for years to come.”
