Manorview Group takes on 60 mile cycle challenge for breast cancer awareness

Manorview Group’s cycling team will be travelling between their hotels dressed in pink to support Breast Cancer Care’s October campaign The Big Pink.

The participants have set themselves a 60 mile cycling challenge and devised a route using four of the group’s hotels as pit stops.

The journey will start at The Bowfield Hotel in Howwood, Johnstone, onwards to the Busby Hotel in Clarkston, Glasgow, then onto the Commercial Hotel in Wishaw, North Lanarkshire, and then reaching the final destination of Cornhill Castle, near Biggar in South Lanarkshire.

Then the team will do the return leg in reverse, making the total journey approximately 60 miles.

The idea was conceived by Ed Elliott, group stock controller and Tommy Bryceland, entertainment manager, in support of their colleague Lorraine McLaren, the group’s training and recruitment manager.

They will be recruiting a team of cyclists from the Manorview Group, which will include the group’s MD, Steve Graham. The team will be heading out on their challenge on Thursday 26 October, dressed in pink Lycra.

They are looking to raise as much as they can for Breast Cancer Care, and the funds raised will be donated to the Day Unit of Hairmyres Hospital, at the request of their colleague Lorraine, who received treatment at this unit of the East Kilbride Hospital.

Ed Elliott, group stock controller said, “Initially Lorraine approached us and suggested we all wear pink to support Breast Cancer Care’s Big Pink October campaign, but Tommy and I thought we’d go one better. We can wear pink, and set ourselves a cycle challenge. I’m sure a large group of guys dressed in pink will attract a lot of attention cycling through Scotland.”

The group have also set up a JustGiving page in aid of the challenge.
