Hotel booking sites investigated by consumer watchdog

The UK’s competition watchdog will investigate hotel booking websites to see whether they are misleading customers. The Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) has said it was worried about the clarity, accuracy and presentation of information. The CMA will ask if sites are using ‘pressure tactics’ to encourage consumers to book rooms. It will investigate whether certain hotels are being promoted over others based on the commission the sites receive, which could be a breach of consumer law. Glh Hotels wins bronze at the London Venue Awards

A Glh Hotels property has received recognition at The London Venue Awards 2017. The Amba Hotel Charing Cross was presented with Bronze for “Best London Event Venue – Under 500 Attendees”. The hotel was competing against a shortlist of eight other sites for the spot. Additional hotels from the Glh portfolio were shortlisted at the event including The Royal Horseguards Hotel for “Best Historic Venue or Livery Hall” and “Best Unusual or Unique Venue”, as well as The Tower Hotel for “Best London Event Venue – 500 to 1,000 attendees”.
