Only 9% of people go to high street travel agents

Only 9% of UK holidaymakers visit travel agents to book the holiday, suggesting the sector could be under threat a new report has found. When it comes to 18-24 year olds, this figure drops to just 4%, while 18% of people over the age of 65 still visit high street travel agents. However, 39% of UK holidaymakers still searched online through a travel agent’s website, with the figure increasing to 53% for 18-24 year olds. UK holidaymakers want ‘more AI and virtual tours’ at hotels

Travel companies need to embrace new technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI), virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) to create a more “immersive and enjoyable” travel experience for holidaymakers, new research suggests.
